Program Options

Precision Agriculture Technology offers an associate of applied science degree and a technical certificate option. High school seniors and juniors are also eligible to apply to this program.

The technical certificate is a one-year program. Students will engage in a comprehensive learning experience that emphasizes the collection, analysis, and interpretation of agricultural data through precision technologies, enabling them to make informed decisions. They will explore innovative crop management techniques while incorporating environmental best management practices (BMP) to promote sustainability. Additionally, students will gain hands-on experience in operating, diagnosing equipment issues, and performing routine maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance of precision agriculture tools. Understanding how to seamlessly integrate these technologies into overall agricultural operations will be a key focus, allowing students to maximize both efficiency and profitability. Finally, they will implement strategies aimed at reducing chemical usage, conserving water resources, and enhancing soil health and biodiversity, all of which are essential for sustainable farming practices.

The Associate of Applied Science is a two-year option. Students will develop the ability to interpret data to identify trends, make predictions, and optimize management practices, ultimately enhancing productivity and sustainability. They will work collaboratively to tackle complex agricultural challenges, leveraging teamwork and diverse perspectives for effective problem-solving. Ethical behavior will be emphasized, as students learn the importance of maintaining integrity in their interactions with clients, colleagues, and the broader agricultural community. Furthermore, students will apply precision agriculture principles across a variety of scenarios, encompassing both commercial enterprises and private ventures, ensuring they are well-equipped to address diverse agricultural needs.
