MTE253 Repair Machining

4 Credit Hours

The training in this course introduces students to the fundamental techniques used to repair, restore, and fabricate industrial components. Students will apply mechanical knowledge and precision machining skills to rework and manufacture replacement parts using both manual and CNC equipment. Training includes the use of hand tools, lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses; thread repair and straightening methods; valve and gear system restoration; tool customization; heat treatment; and basic welding processes. Emphasis is placed on interpreting blueprints, applying reverse engineering concepts, and using proper safety and quality control practices to ensure functional, reliable repairs.
